Jonathan Gold on Rose Parade Grand Marshal Paula Deen

On Tuesday, Pasadena's Tournament of Roses announced Paula Deen as the Grand Marshal of the 2011 Rose Parade. The Tournament calls the southern restaurateur with two shows on the Food Network the embodiment of this year's theme, "Building Dreams, Friendships and Memories." But the LA Weekly's Jonathan Gold told the Pasadena Star News the Deen "exploits and despoils the culinary movement [Julia] Child did so much to prod into being." Now he's written an open apology.
