Which Way, L.A.?

New Focus on Vaccination Rates at Child Care Centers

Measles outbreaks used to occur in low-income areas where parents couldn't afford vaccinations. Now, they're happening in the wealthy suburbs of Orange and Los Angeles Counties. On the campus of Santa Monica High School, a confirmed case at the Infant Toddler Center has 14 other babies staying home for the next 21 days.

Measles outbreaks used to occur in low-income areas where parents couldn't afford vaccinations. Now, they're happening in the wealthy suburbs of Orange and Los Angeles Counties. On the campus of Santa Monica High School, a confirmed case at the Infant Toddler Center has 14 other babies staying home for the next 21 days. The outbreak has moved one Los Angeles pediatrician to post a notice on Facebook, and in his waiting room, that he won't see children whose parents refuse to have them vaccinated.
