I’m always on the lookout for an album like this — one that can easily exist as background music, but can also command my full attention.

I’m a big multi-tasker and sometimes I need an album that isn’t intrusive but sets a mood. Blackbird Blackbird’s “Tangerine Sky” is that kind of album.

And fans of dreamy chillwave synth pop ala Washed Out – or even fellow Bay Area artist Tycho – should give this a listen.

San Francisco-based musician Mikey Maramag cut his teeth as the drummer for a hardcore band called Murder Practice, but his solo work takes a much sunnier turn.

It’s an easy album to keep on repeat and has been a mainstay on KCRW’s airwaves for months.

Stream the full album, out on Om Records, below and grab a free download of LA band DWNTWN’s excellent remix of “There is Nowhere”.

Blackbird Blackbird will be at King King THIS Saturday, June 14. Details here.
