Blitzen Trapper: Artist You Should Know

I was turned on to Portland’s Blitzen Trapper well after their first couple of albums. By the time their third CD “Wild Mountain Nation” hit the shelves, they were already on most rabid music fans radar.

Each successive album has been another tour around the record store, from Neil Young-informed country rock to full on Sonic Youth noisy workouts.

Comparing them to those artists is unfair, however, as Blitzen Trapper have developed their own method of musical exploration.

“American Goldwing”, the title track off their new album, hits all the marks and hints that another stellar album is on the way. I’ll be here, waiting to catch it when it drops.
