KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad hosts Dam-Funk for a Guest DJ set on Monday, July 12 at 9pm, with treats from his personal beat stash. More from Garth:

LA based DJ/producer Dam-Funk says Funk is not a fad but a way of life. For a number of years now, he’s preached this sound sermon by holding court at a weekly party called “Funkmosphere,” where guest DJ’s are only allowed to play original vinyl recordings of funk music from around the world. Dam is one of the foremost authorities on the funk genre, boasting an enviable collection of mainly 70’s & 80’s funk music from just about every continent on the planet.

Fresh off a world tour to support his debut full length titled “Toeachizown,” plan on hearing Dam expand on the concept of funk, its origins and possible futures, between playing rare funk records from all around the world, along with some of his own forthcoming work that includes collaborations with R&B sensations Jody Watley and Steve Arrington.

If you want a taste of Dam-Funk’s work, the LA Times are offering a few free tracks for download.
