Day Wave: Artist You Should Know (Song Premiere)

Jackson Phillips is one half of the California-based electro-pop duo Carousel, but like many talented musical types, he’s got other irons in the fire.

His new solo project, Day Wave, has been, ahem, making waves on the internet with a handful of tracks that have excited much of the taste-making community with their easy-going, uber-catchy vibe.

We’re excited to premiere Day Wave’s latest offering: a sun-drenched, melody-heavy tune called “Drag“.

Day Wave starts with the kind of insistent, toe-tapping beat of The Drums or Surfer Blood cut and wipes it of any pretension or preciousness, leaving a sparkling clean three-minutes of pop paradise.

No word yet on a full EP or album’s worth of material on the horizon, so like a delicious glass of fresh orange juice out of season, we’ll just have to savor what we’ve got in the meantime.
