KCRW DJ Garth Trinidadshares his love for Mercury Prize-nominated UK band Foals, whose new album “True Life Forever” is out now on Sub Pop:

“The new record from UK’s Foals has got some funk to it. It took me a while to listen to the first single, “Miami” – now accompanied by Dave Ma’s video, provocative and slick, not just because of the baby oil. The song has that certain power bounce, a bit reminiscent of Bowie’s “Fame” days.

When Eric J Lawrence (KCRWs trusty music librarian) alerted us to the new album being available to play, I immediately gravitated to the title track, “Total Life Forever.” The rhythm swing makes me think of Sugarloaf’s classic “Green Eyed Lady”, while the track’s vocal harmonies and instrumental texture make me want to drive fast on PCH. I actually get emotional listening to it, playing air drums in the studio, etc. Check it out!”
