    Marian Hill – “Got It”

Marian Hill is actually a duo!

A Philadelphia electronic pop duo Marian Hill comprised of Jeremy Lloyd (production/songwriting) and Samantha Gongol (vocals/songwriting).

DJ Aaron Byrd is a big fan of this band, who definitely have some 90’s vibes ala En Vogue, Mary J Blige and Aaliyah with that hip hop “boom bap”, as he says.

Coves – “Fall Out of Love”

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been itching for a new record from The Kills. While we wait for Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince to make it happen, let me introduce you to another dynamic duo: John Ridgard and Beck Wood of Coves.

They’re a bit more dreamy pop than searing rock, but they’ve got oomph in there too. The UK duo released their debut album recently on Nettwerk and it’s well worth a listen.

The New Basement Tapes — “When I Get My Hands On You”

Simply put, I’m obsessed with this song – with lyrics by Bob Dylan delivered wonderfully by Marcus Mumford. How did this happen, you might ask?

It’s a project called The New Basement Tapes, which includes – Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket) and Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons). They teamed up with producer T-Bone Burnett to create an album out November 10 called “Lost On the River: The New Basement Tapes” based on “on a treasure trove of recently discovered lyrics handwritten by Bob Dylan in 1967.”

    Anxiously awaiting this one!

Knox Hamilton – “Work it Out”

If you only listen to the first 30 seconds of this song, it will be worth it. I love a track that comes out of the gate like this and then backs it up with a SUPER catchy chorus.

With such a sweet refrain, I never would have pictured the singer to be this bearded, long-haired dude, but finding out the band is from Little Rock, Arkansas is makes a big more sense.
