Teen Daze – “Ice On The Windowsill”

This ambient electronica track is meditatively beautiful. I feel like I could listen to it on repeat for hours, staring up into the starry sky or out into the ocean.

It feels big, expansive – like anything is possible if you are open to it. The Canadian artist Teen Daze released it as part of an 8-track album “Glacier”, which is out now.

Glass Animals – “Psylla”

I get a LOT of emails about new bands, but the one I got about UK’s Glass Animals contained the magic words Paul Epworth.

If you don’t know the name, he’s produced recent work from Adele (“Rolling in the Deep”) and Florence and the Machine. But it was when I pressed play on the track “Psylla” that I was really won over. It immediately sucked me in.

At age 22, vocalist and songwriter David Bayley has studied medicine and neuroscience and draws inspiration from those fields. There’s a lot happening, so I recommend sitting back with headphones and taking this one in.

Electric Peanut Butter Company – “Trans-Atlantic Psych Classics Vol.2.”

If you’re looking for something a little groovy, look no further than this collaboration between Shawn Lee and Adrian Quesada. It’s inspired by ‘60s freaky psychedelic folk, rock, soul with lots of funk for good measure. The music is fresh, fun and full of energy.

Sample a few tracks below and hear KCRW“The Rain” favorite here.

REWIND!

Hot Chocolate – “Every 1’s a Winner”

DJ Travis Holcombe dropped this 1978 classic on his show last night and it put me in the best mood, so I wanted to share. That guitar riff is pure musical gold.

Hot Chocolate, in case you aren’t familiar, is the British pop band behind “You Sexy Thing”. Enjoy!
