When you receive dozens of CDs a week all hoping for your ear, it’s interesting to see what stands out.

Last night, as I stared at my pile of mail collected in the corner of my couch, I grabbed the album from Francois & The Atlas Mountains from no reason other than I’ve had a thing for all things French since seeing Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” and, more recently, “The Artist” (with incredible acting from Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo).

I’ve been trying to plan a trip to France but, until then, I’m going to have to settle for some music (and of course the fantastic accent of our own DJ Mathieu Schreyer).

Francois & The Atlas Mountains is the first French signing from Domino Records. The press release described it as “sunnily feel-good and wistfully melancholy…with a poignant, end-of summer feel to it.” Rarely are press releases that spot on. From the first track on “E Volo Love”, which came out in late January, I was smitten.

DJ Chris Douridas played it on his show today and I figured it was fate to share it with all of you. Enjoy!
