Seekae – Test & Recognise (Flume Re-work)

In a fairly short period of time, Australian beatmaker Flume has established himself as one of the most consistently exciting artists in electronic music.

I was already a fan of his work, but seeing Flume’s energetic live set at FYF Fest last year made me a true believer.

There’s definitely a “Flume sound” but it’s a spectrum: he can lay down soothing head nodding downtempo beats one minute, and bring the bass-heavy bombast the next, oftentimes in the span of the same track.

Flume’s latest release is a re-work of the track “Test & Recognise” by fellow Aussies, Seekae.

The remix is on a similar wavelength as the work he did on the “Lockjaw” EP with Chet Faker; a bit more restrained, but with a leftfield twist with the siren-like synth wailing throughout.

Jeffrey Brodsky – “I’ll Be Strong”

Jeffrey Brodsky is a local artist who is the touring drummer/percussionist of KCRW favorites RAC and YACHT.

He first caught my ear as a solo artist last year with the track “Decay“(one of my favorite singles of last year, btw), which was released under his previous pseudonym, Jeffrey Jerusalem.

Now performing and releasing records under his birth name, Brodsky has just put out a bouncy, soulful new vocal house cut called “I’ll Be Strong” that I am loving right now.

The “I’ll Be Strong” EP has just been released on Public Release Records and features remixes by dance music heavyweights Mark E, Mike Simonetti and Richard Sen.

Cop it.
