Laura Mvula with the Metropole Orkest – “Make Me Lovely”

Soul chanteuse Laura Mvula burst onto the scene last year with her debut album, “Sing To The Moon”, an album of prodigious grandeur that felt both timeless and out of time.

So how will Ms. Mvula top the epic epicness that was “Sing To The Moon”?

BY MAKING IT EVEN MORE EPIC!

Laura Mvula has re-recorded all 12 songs from debut album with the 52 piece Dutch Metropole Orkest, the largest full-time orchestra of its kind in the world.

The collaboration, which features all new arrangements, was recorded in February at Abbey Road Studios and set for release next week.

Until then, you can feast your ears of the opening track, “Make Me Lovely“, available to stream and download at The Fader.

Believe me, it’s worth clicking the hyperlink.

VA – Point Point présente Filet Mignon Volume II

The French collective of up-and-coming producers known as Point Point have just released the second volume of their Filet Mignon mixtape series and it is a killer.

At 21 cuts deep, future beats of every stripe are represented on this compilation from footwork to techno to R&B and electro house.

I’m really feeling the maximalist club of Nömak & L’homme aux 4 lettres’ “Horsequake”, Alesia’s techno cut, “H.T.”, Louisiana MC Joe Fnkoo’s “Speed” and D-Bass & Wongo’s flip of Biggie & 112”s “Sky’s The Limit” (called “Limitless” here), but really the whole compilation is worth checking out.

Stream the whole thing below and download all 21 tracks for free here.
