Today, LA mainstay and shape-shifting artist Hanni El Khatib announces a new album FLIGHT, out May 15 via Innovative Leisure. The record was produced by Leon Michels (El Michels Affair, Travis Scott, Mark Ronson, Lana Del Rey) and seamlessly blends elements of garage rock, hip-hop, psych, and soul.

With the announcement comes the excellent new single “ALIVE.” A bouncy keys-driven track that was inspired by a serious car accident Hanni miraculously survived last year.

To mark the album announcement, Hanni put together an exclusive playlist for KCRW (stream below!) and says this of his process:

“When I started working on the record, I always knew I wanted it to have the feel and flow of a mixtape. A collage of tweaked sounds and genres. I wanted it to be completely free, much like the playlists you would make for a friend. This collection of tracks may be a bit all over the place and jump from one vibe to another pretty quick, but they all have a similar essence that feel nostalgic to me.”
