Editor’s Note: KCRW Music Director and Metropolis host Jason Bentley will be spinning Mix Mag’s Lab LA party this Friday, February 27 and he shares his favorite Metropolis tracks of the moment to get us prepped for the weekend ahead.

Attend by RSVPing to guestlist@mixmag.net (He spins at 8:30pm but suggests arriving early!)

    “Cheerleader” – Omi

This track is already a breakout hit. It’s the sweetness of it that I find so appealing. German producer Felix Jaehn remixed the original by Jamaican singer Omi (Omar Samuel Pasley) and it’s been a #1 hit in Australia, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.

“Leave Me Alone (feat. Shay Lia)” – Kaytranada

This artist has a lot of buzz and I think this song is an interesting combination of R&B, hip hop and house music.

Kaytranada was born in Haiti and raised in Montreal. He’s remixed everyone from Missy Elliot and Pharrell Williams to Disclosure and Beyonce. His full length is expected soon. He’s also on the bill for Coachella this year.

“Square 1 (Ft. Deptford Goth)” – Lxury

London producer Lxury is signed to Disclosure’s label.

I first heard his music when Flume played a track of his on Holy Ship! It took me four months to track it down. It caught my ear with a prominent synth line that doesn’t even hit until the 1:49 mark.

The track I’m currently spinning is from his latest EP.

    “Save Me” — Listenbee

We premiered this track from Venice artist Listenbee. It’s super catchy.

They recently hit over half a million plays on Soundcloud with this track and are signed to Lokal Legend Records.

“Ghost in the System” – Pleasure State

MK is a totally legit old school house producer who is part of this trio, also featuring Lee Foss, co-founder of the very influential house label, ‘Hot Creations’ and singer and DJ Anabel Englund. He’ll be appearing at the CRSSD Festival in San Diego next month and appearing on Metropolis THIS Saturday.
