In the process of working on her as yet untitled debut full length album, talented LA-based vocalist BANKS has been releasing individual tracks here and there over the last year.

The chanteuse has worked with a grip of awesome producers ranging fromTotally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs to Sohn and now LA Producer Shlohmo.

On new single “Brain“, Shlohmo’s minimalistic, slow-burn production allows BANKS to find a real sweet spot vocally.

However, that vocal sweet spot is about as sweet as it gets, as the tracks tone is anything but that — a stylish reprimand for even stepping to her, “Brain” finds

BANKS sending a simply unsuitable suitor away as he is just not ready.

Perched between the taught, smoky delivery of a pop diva like Rihanna and a potentially unhinged Goth howl reminiscent of Siouxsie Sioux, BANKS makes it clear that she is not some girl you just roll up to, make some corny joke and offer a drink.

“Brain” answers the question of whether or not she’s ready for the world, by asking us if we are ready for BANKS.
