Kid Cudi may not be a “new” artist but I was intrigued to see him make it on DJ Anthony Valadez’s Top 10 of 2010 so I asked him to give us a little background on the MC, who creatively features one of my favorite indie rock vocal hooks of the year – from KCRW favorite St. Vincent–on his new track “Maniac.”

More from Anthony:

You might have seen him on HBO’s “How To Make It In America” or caught his self-made self made promo videos on You Tube. Ladies and gentleman I introduce thee to Mr. Cudi.

His latest album entitled “Man On The Moon Pt II, The Legend of Mr Rager” picks up where he left off by mixing electronic sounds, future beats and obscure samples. He has worked with the likes of MGMT, Ratatat and LA’s Nosaj Thing for music assistance.

Cudi mixes his wordplay at times as an MC and switches it up in the form of an indie rock vocalist. His new album continues to push music into a new direction blending hip hop with indie rock and electronica.

His album seems to be creatively fearless hence it making my top 10!
