Norwegian-based producer Kygo stopped by the famed Village Studio to record a live session for KCRW after his Coachella debut.

The rising star of EDM brought three incredible vocalists (Brisbane’s Conrad Sewell, Austria’s James Hersey, and Brooklyn-based Parson James) for this stripped down set of his piano-driven songs.

During soundcheck, they played around with a couple Michael Jackson songs (“Beat it” and “Black and White”) but the recording itself was an effort in perfection.

There was a real buzz in the air. Everyone seemed excited to be there and, with his “tropical house” stripped down to its most basic elements, you could really appreciate the songcraft of each track.

(Apparently, Kygo had been at the studio early in the week for some writing sessions so he shows no signs of slowing down!)

He ended the session with “ID”, a song he had worked on for a while that eventually became the Ultra Music Festival Anthem for 2015.
