Dum Dum Girls burst out of the LA scene in 2010 gaining buzz amongst indie fans across the nation. At first, they were a bit mysterious. A girl group playing vintage-tinged garage rock, fronted by a woman named Dee Dee (we later found our “Dee Dee” was Kristen Gundred, of San Diego-based band Grand Ole Party.)

Dee Dee’s powerful voice was always key, but the guitar fuzz behind her seemed to define the band. Now, on two new songs from their forthcoming Sub Pop release “Only in Dreams”, Dee Dee’s voice is finally at the forefront.

I’ve heard their live show is amazing but until I can check the Dum Dum Girls out, I’m happy to listen to these songs over and over. (They’ll be at the Troubadour on October 3!)
