There is so much good NEW music out there right now, it’s almost overwhelming!

DJ Anne Litt tweeted about the new track from St. Vincent aka Annie Clark over the weekend, calling it “amazing”, so I thought it was worth sharing. The song is equal parts beautiful and weird with a fun little musical freakout at the end that is quite unexpected.

Download the track in exchange for an email address here. It will be on her new full length “Strange Mercy”, which will be out on September 13.

Truth be told, it took a while for me to fall for St. Vincent’s critically-acclaimed 2007 debut “Marry Me”. But after seeing her play live, I GOT it. Then came the album “Actor”, which was just stunning, followed by her Morning Becomes Eclectic debut, one of the best live sets on the station last year.

Her music is quirky and experimental with a strong pop leaning. She plays a ton of instruments and is also a “musician’s musician”, having collaborated with Bon Iver, Beck and performed as part of The Polyphonic Spree and with Sufjan Stevens. If you don’t already know St. Vincent, this is a good time to get caught up. She’ll be at the Music Box on October 18.
