From KCRW DJ Mathieu Schreyer:

When it was time to put my top 10 albums of the year together at the end of 2011, I of course ended up with 20 albums. And Lucas Santtana’s “Sem Nosalgia” was one of them.

It was one of the rare times when I got a CD I truly love in the mail. It was sent to me by my friend Amanda from “Chouette” promo in NY. I believe the album came out in Brazil in 2009, but only reached us in 2011.

“Sem Nostalgia” (which means ‘withouth nostalgia’) is a great modern Bossa Nova record, featuring this gem “Cira, Regina e Nana“.

I encourage all of you to get it. And as he prepares to release his new CD, “O Deus Que Devasta Mas Também Cura“, a remix version of the earlier album is available on his site as a free download.

With his latest effort, Mr. Santtana cements his place among Brazilian’s greats, his voice, lyrics and arrangements are simply impeccable — he never does too much and is always on point.

I am a big fan and, in 2012, I wont make the mistake of including his album in my top 20, but most definitely in my top 10.

“O Deus Que Devasta Mas Também Cura” is only available in Brazil, but I am sure it will be released in the US before the end of the year. Until then, here is a video to tide you over:

Stay tuned.

thank you
