From our NYC correspondent DJ Jason Eldredge:

The winter’s chill becomes a distant memory this month with the warm full-length debut of Valencia, Spain-based DJ and producer, Maceo Plex.

Otherwise known as Eric Estornel (and more recently traveling under the moniker Maetrik), Plex creates electronica at is finest, citing references as diverse as Moodymann, Isolee, Kenny Larkin, Idjut Boys and even Parliament Funkadelic.

Sparse, but expertly placed vocals and samples pepper a proper excursion into the mind of a seeming master who knows his way around a groove. Not one jam clocks in at under seven minutes and each appears to be more intricate than the last. Highly recommended is the incredible deep zone-out treat, “Your Style”

Stream “Your Style”:

The aptly titled, “Life Index” by Maceo Plex is available now on DJ Damian Lazarus’ well-respected Crosstown Rebels label.
