As we prepare to discuss Coachella, something major must be addressed: America’s Queen, Beyonce, is on the line-up the same day as Chic. Do we dare to dream of that collaboration? Could we ever really fly that close to the sun? Honestly, we should just put that tantalizing thought aside for the moment, and talk about a few other acts that are all but guaranteed to perform amazing shows during this year’s festivities.

    Peggy Gou

Based in Berlin, Peggy Gou is an incredibly exciting presence in the current electronic music scene. She’s made a splash on the KCRW airwaves with her standout track “Han Jan.” I assume that she will be doing a DJ set during both of her Sunday appearances at Coachella, and that both sets will be very, very special.

    Cherry Glazerr

Have I mentioned Cherry Glazerr on this page before? I don’t believe so, but even if I have, it is well worth reminding you that you should seek out any and every performance that you can from this L.A.-based band whose sound is mostly rooted in Riot Grrrl. They did name themselves after KCRW’s local Morning Edition Host/all around awesome human being Chery Glaser after all. Their most recent record was spectacularly titled Apocolipstick. From that one, I’m sharing with you the excellent “I Told You I’d Be With The Guys.”

    Chloe x Halle

Chloe x Halle are twins, they’re also regulars on the Freeform series Grownish, and they just casually released one of the best records of 2018 in the form of The Kids Are Alright. The title track, like The Who song it shares it’s name with, is a lovely reminder that the “youth of today” are doing just fine. It’s also a lovely song.
