Here are a few new releases that are right on time and pair perfectly with our summer weather.

Blood Orange – “Benzo”

Dev Hynes, better known as Blood Orange, is a multi-talented artist that shows no lack of range. He has gone by several aliases over the years and has written for everyone from Florence and the Machine to Solange, Tyler the Creator, Kylie Minogue…Buscabulla and the list goes on.

Less than a year after the critically acclaimed Negro Swan, Hynes' talents are on full display with his latest project. Angel's Pulse is a mixtape that serves as a collage of all Hynes' influences and collaborations over the years. Check out the visuals for one of my favorite tracks on the album "Benzo."

BEA1991 – “Modern Comforts”

In 2014, a fresh voice and sound in the alt-pop world emerged in the form of BEA. Her debut EP Good Thinking showcased an undeniable talent with a promising future. Five years and a name change later, BEA1991 has realized all of her potential with her debut album. Brand New Adult sits where electronics, yacht-pop, global-fi R&B and chamber folk music merge. In other words, imagine if Kate Bush, Dido and Royksöpp made an album.

With contributions from Benny Sings, Sneaker Pimps' founder Liam Howe and the aforementioned Blood Orange (whom she's previously worked with), Brand New Adult is an incredible sonic experience. In my opinion it's one of the best albums of the year thus far. I really can't get enough of this record. Check out one of my favorite songs on the album, "Modern Comforts."

Big K.R.I.T. – “K.R.I.T. HERE”

Back in 2010 Justin Scott, better known as Big K.R.I.T., released K.R.I.T Wuz Here, which was a 20-track mixtape that displayed both his skills on the mic and as a producer. The Mississippi artist's ability to rap like T.I. over self-produced beats like Pimp C established K.R.I.T. as an up and coming force to be reckoned with.

After contending with the constraints of a major label, he has returned with his second independent album in as many years. K.R.I.T. IZ HERE is a follow up to that seminal mixtape of 2010 and has Scott returning to his roots. If you're a long time K.R.I.T. fan as I am, then you will be pleased with this latest musical offering. Take a look at the video for "K.R.I.T. HERE.”
