KCRW just added yet another piece to the awesome puzzle that is Summer Nights with the announcement of our Sound In Focus series at the Annenberg Space for Photography; but I’m still beyond pumped about our female centric Hammer Museum line-up! To get you equally pumped, allow me to soundtrack your weekend with a few of my favorite tracks from a few of the artists that will be playing free shows at the Hammer Thursdays in July. Check out our full line-up of Summer Nights events here.

Grace Mitchell – “Now”

When we premiered this track a few months back, I had this to say about the artist: “Mitchell is clearly a singer/songwriter who sprang into life fully formed. I’m tempted to say that her powerful voice, astounding wisdom, and wickedly sharp perspective completely belie her 19 years. Honestly though, she would (and will) be a powerhouse at any age.” Now having spent more time with this song, it’s become something of a personal anthem, and one of my favorites of the year.

Elohim – “Hallucinating”

L.A. based Elohim has a knack for writing super catchy songs that tackle weighty issues (another of my favorites of hers is called “Xanax”). This one might be her catchiest, with it’s instantly hummable melody, and all too relatable lyrics.

Suzi Analogue – “Wildflowrr”

Suzi Analogue is a super prolific musician, producer, and founder of the record label Never Normal. She’s applied her signature electro soul style to everything from a collaboration with KCRW favorite Tokimonsta to covering the Oasis classic “Wonderwall.” Recent single “Wildflowrr” is a particularly vibrant track that you should be vibing out to right now.
