Sub Pop’s home page is pretty much a summary of my favorite new music right now –Washed Out, Vetiver, Blitzen Trapper,Dum Dum Girls AND what I consider one of the most reliably great indie rock bands – Fruit Bats. I love the Fruit Bats and have followed them through many albums. KCRW music librarian Eric J Lawrence agrees, saying “they’re like a musical geyser, the Old Faithful of the indie rock scene”.

He also says their new album, “Tripper”, may be their best. Even this goofy, early 80’s-style video can’t keep me away from their folk-tinged pop songs.

We’ll be streaming “Tripper” as part of our Album Preview series starting Monday, July 25 and you can get another preview below!
