Meiko came out of the Hotel Café singer-songwriter scene in 2007 with a fantastic, self-titled debut album that landed her a performance spot on Morning Becomes Eclectic, her U.S. live radio debut.

We’ve been anxiously awaiting a follow up and we finally have a song to share. The first single “Leave the Lights On” shows her confessional storytelling style hasn’t changed much, but the music is kicked up a notch with some dance beats. She’s not just a singer with an acoustic guitar anymore!

It’s a move in a good direction that I think will open her up to a wider audience but still satisfy the fans she’s already earned. You can download the track in exchange for your email here.

p.s. I love her bio on her website, which accurately describes her if you’ve ever met her in person: “Singer, Songwriter, Shit Talker, Lover, Fighter, Over User of The Word “Balls”
