Prop 62 aims to abolish the death penalty in California. Death penalty supporters and opponents say that the death penalty is too costly, in part due to a lenghty appeals process. Prop. 62 supporters also argue it’s unethical. A different ballot proposal, Prop. 66, also works to address the issue of cost, by aiming to speed up the appeals process.

Election day is November 8 and California voters face 17 propositions on the ballot.
