One of my favorite pop discoveries of the year is a band called Summer Fiction. I’ve been meaning to blog about it for months because it’s worthy of attention, but I was jolted into action after hearing Nic Harcourt play “By the Sea” on his show last night.

Stream “By the Sea”:

I discovered Summer Fiction on a blog and I only needed to hear the first :30 seconds of one song – the ultra-catchy “Chandeliers” — to get hooked.

I did a bit of research and found out that Summer Fiction is a project from Philly’s BillRicchini. His self-titled debut was recorded mostly in his bedroom and it’s bright orchestral pop without being at all over the top. In fact, it’s an incredibly easy album to listen to over and over.

After one full day of sunshine in LA this weekend, I’m ready to put down the rainy day music and pick back up some pop!
