The dawn of Man Power!

Recently revealed in the June issue of DJ Mag, the mysterious Man Power releases his self-titled LP.

Having previously released a slew of ripping 12″s on labels Correspondent, Hivern and Throne Of Blood and remixes and other work on Is It Balearic?, Ene, and Eskimo, the anonymous figure known as Man Power has recently released a self-titled full length album.

Until recently, there was no documented image of him revealing his face (leading to wild speculation that he is producer/artist John Talabot or perhaps Tim Sweeney of Beats in Space), there is more than enough output to know that the dude knows what he’s doing and does it well.

The album is a slow (but white hot) burner that keeps the tempo at a chugging Weatherall-esque pace, like a runaway train that takes its time to barrel through every last thing in it’s path.

If the album art is any indication, the idea is one of looming large, like that massive soldier statue on that mysterious island in Game of Thrones. And just as mysteriously, Man Power has tune after massive tune to back it up.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of meeting the guy a couple of times, and though he isn’t Talabot nor Sweeney, he is a charming and wickedly talented bastard. The “Man Power” album is bold proclamation of his plans to make a lasting mark.
