If you’re looking for a batch of new music, look no further! KCRW has you covered with the latest by LA based Dresage. Tom Misch had a banner year in 2017 and was voted Best New Artist by KCRW DJs — hear why. Check out a preview of Lissie’s new album coming in March. Brandi Carlile launched her tour with a session on MBE last week. Last but not least, Typhoon hit The Teragram Ballroom February 11.

    Monday, Jan 8 Dresage “Renaissance”

The heart and soul behind Dresage is Keeley Bumford, who got the music bug after discovering Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald as a teenager. She studied opera, jazz, and received a degree in audio production at Berklee. She’s since moved to Los Angeles to begin her career as Dresage. We share “Renaissance” as Today’s Top Tune.

Tuesday, Jan 9 Tom Misch “Movie”

KCRW DJs anointed Tom Misch as Best New Artist of 2017 and “Movie” is a song we grew to love. Travis Holcombe put it this way: “There’s a sense of ease and maturity to Misch’s work, and with such a versatile and ever-improving skill set – producing, writing, singing, guitar – the possibilities for this artist feel infinite. With his proper debut album set to drop in April, the stars seem to be aligned for a breakout year from Tom Misch in 2018.” We wish him the best and pumped to see him on the Coachella lineup!

Wednesday, Jan 10 Lissie “Blood and Muscle”

For her upcoming 4th album, singer/songwriter Lissie combines introspection with dream-pop. As Lissie sings “I want to laugh at the dark, like I’m not scared of nothing, I want a love that’s made of blood and muscle.” She unabashedly states her dreams and desires.

Thursday, Jan 11 Brandi Carlile “The Joke”

Grammy-nominated Americana artist Brandi Carlile drops a new album in mid-February. A powerful vocalist, songwriter, and activist – “The Joke” offers hope to the under-represented, unloved, or illegal among us.

    Friday, Jan 12 Typhoon “Empiricist”

Typhoon’s latest album centers on a fictional character that is losing his memory and consequently his identity. Lead singer and songwriter Kyle Morton asks the question “What does a person become if they don’t know where they came from?” We find out on “Empiricist.”
