Vicente Amigo, though not a household name like Paco de Lucia, is nevertheless one of the greatest flamenco guitarists in the world. And he is coming to Los Angeles, performing at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center Saturday, March 24th, as part of the LA Flamenco Festival that weekend. It’s a new, stylish and acoustically excellent hall, capacity 1400, a good size. Amigo hasn’t been here for years. Every flamenco aficionado in the area will be there. They’ll be excited, too. The promoter booking the show, Mitchell Chang, recently brought Diego El Cigala to the venue for what was one of the best flamenco events in years.

On Sunday March 25th, Teatro Flamenco featuring Carola Zertuche, fabulous guitarist Adam Del Monte, and Nino de Los Reyes will perform. It promises to be a great weekend of authentic gitano music. This isn’t the freeway flamenco of Ottmar Liebert. It’s not smooth jazz. It’s the real deal.
