Google maps “Street View” has gone underwater to capture images from the Great Barrier Reef, Hawaii and the Philippines. The Google blog explains that the company has teamed up with the Catlin Institute to map some of the world’s reefs. So far, there are no images of California’s rocky reefs.
Brian McClendon, VP of Google Maps and Earth writes that “this is “the next step in our quest to provide people with the most comprehensive, accurate and usable map of the world.” While it probably won’t help you that much if you drive (dive?) into the depth, it’s a reminder of just how beautiful life under the sea can be.
