This week on Today’s Top Tune, we have a couple of remixes in store. Joe Claussell takes on Louie Vega and Hot Toddy puts a spin on Izo Fitzroy. We check in with a new Icelandic trio Fufanu. The ever prolific Mac DeMarco offers up soul on his new album and, as he prepares to tour, we share a new song by Ethan Gruska.

Monday, February 27

Louis Vega: A New Day (Joe Claussell remix)

There is a collision of titans when it comes to Joe Claussell’s remix of Louie Vega’s “A New Day.” It’s an epic track that’s just plain stunning and unstoppable. So here it is for your enjoyment.

Tuesday, February 28

Fufanu: title track from Sports

Even though Krautrock was created years before their birth, the trio making up Fufanu was greatly influenced by its sound. The trio’s sophomore album was produced by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Nick Zinner. We feel the urgency and driving grooves on the title track from Sports.

Wednesday, March 1

Izo Fitzroy: Hope You Can Wait (Hot Toddy Rmx)

Blues songstress Izo Fitzroy draws power from mighty artists like Janis Joplin for her raw delivery, and turns to her Gospel roots for uplifting and dynamic performances. We’re fond of a new remix of “Hope You Can Wait” by Hot Toddy.

Ethan Gruska: Reoccurring Dream from Slowmotionary

Ethan Gruska, known as half of the sibling duo The Belle Brigade, strikes out on his own with a debut album. But that doesn’t mean he was all alone. Forging vulnerability with strong songwriting, he enlisted a bunch of very talented musicians — including sister Barbara on percussion — to create a dozen songs including Reoccurring Dream.

Friday, March 3

Mac DeMarco: My Old Man from This Old Dog

This Old Dog will be Mac DeMarco’s fifth record release in just as many years. DeMarco might only be 26 years old but he’s already feeling the tug of age taking hold as he makes clear on “My Old Man.”
