Miike Snow at a sold out show tonight in LA is a London-based band called Wolf Gang. I discovered them at SXSW last year and was blown away by their live show and symphonic pop songs that I found myself singing in my head constantly after hearing them only once.

Frontman Max McElligott has a commanding presence…he has, as I like to say, “the stuff”. That special something. He just has it. And I even felt compelled to say hello afterwards, which I rarely do.

Jason Bentley started playing their track “Lions in Cages” right after the festival and then they seemed to disappear. Turns out, they released a full length sometime last year and I just got my hands on it!

“Suego Faults” is a solid pop album from start to finish with moments of grandeur so it’s not surprising to hear that they’ve been tapped to open for Coldplay on a handful of dates this summer.

The album was produced by Dave Fridmann, who’s produced some of my fave albums of the last 5 years or so – both releases by MGMT, Tame Impala’s “Innerspeaker”, and Black Moth Super Rainbow’s “”Eating Us”.

So here’s my new favorite song from them, “The King and All of His Men“.

They’ll be playing at Coachella on Friday at 1pm and are worth getting to the polo fields early. With such a promising debut, I’m happy to hear they’re already at work on album #2.
