The polymath Nicholson Baker has been able to create a version of himself in the figure of Paul Chowder, an accomplished poet. Chowder likes poetry that rhymes and follows a regular metric — enough of all that free verse (they're "plums" not poems). Baker declares his affiliation with Chowder—and even sings.
