Ask Evan: Should I Start My Tomatoes Indoors or Outdoors?

Every Tuesday I answer a question from a Good Food listener. You can email me a question, leave one on Facebook or add one in the comments section here. This week’s comes from Monica:

Starting tomatoes in Southern California: better started indoors or fine to plant the seeds outside?

The beauty of living in Southern California is that generally temperatures get warm enough to start tomato seeds outside. If you start indoors the plants will be more fragile and will have to be “hardened off”, that is gradually exposed to outdoor temps/variables. It might take longer for the seeds to sprout out doors, but they will end up being more vigorous.
