When the German government called on companies to use ingenuity in the wake of COVID-19, Melitta pivoted to make masks alongside their original paper coffee filters. The company is producing 1 million masks a day and is projected to make a total of 15 billion. New York Times Berlin correspondent Christopher Schuetze reported on the new product.
