Tom Cruise made headlines this week in San Diego when he flew a helicopter to land on an aircraft carrier at the “Top Gun: Maverick” premiere. Cruise is known for doing his own stunts. For years, he prepared to play the role of Maverick by obtaining his pilot’s license so he could fly a jet. The film is set to open on May 27.

Meanwhile, “Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” opens this weekend, and it’s expected to be a big hit as well.

By some estimates, box office revenue could be back up to 80% of pre-pandemic days by the end of 2022. Others are not as optimistic.

It remains to be seen whether more audiences will return to theaters as the summer blockbuster season moves into high gear. Uncertainty around COVID continues, and older film watchers are perhaps remaining more cautious.
