Hollywood news banter

Hosted by

Matt Belloni, editorial director of the Hollywood Reporter, joins Kim Masters to discuss top entertainment news stories of the week.

In the days since the New York Times published allegations of sexual assault against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, he has been fired by the board of his own company, The Weinstein Company. Many people are asking: what took so long? It's likely a combination of factors -- we've seen Bill Cosby, Roger Ailes and others taken down in recent years -- which has perhaps made women more likely to go on the record, and Weinstein is no longer at the top of his game. He lacks the power he once had in the industry. But the uncomfortable truth remains -- Weinstein's behavior was long an open secret in the industry, and a culture of silence and fear allowed his behavior to go on.
