Judd Apatow

Hosted by

Pettiness and self-absorption…now, that’s the stuff of comedy.  At least it is for writer-director Judd Apatow (Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, The Cable Guy, Freaks & Geeks, The Larry Sanders Show, The Ben Stiller Show), as he showed in The 40-Year Old Virgin and his newest, Knocked Up.

Judd talks about his career as an actor and writer and how both influenced his directing; the importance of honesty, anger and timing in comedy; the impact of films such as The Last Detail and Broadcast News; his surprise at the underwhelming reaction to The Cable Guy and the fact that fewer personal or 'relationship comedies' such as Annie Hall are being today than once were.
