Artist You Should Know: Pearls Negras

Pearls Negras are a badass trio of teenage rappers hailing from the Vidigal favela of Rio de Janeiro.

They first came onto my radar a little over a year ago with their twerk-inducing funk carioca heavyweight jammer, “Pensando em Você.” It’s just one of those tracks that feels like it accelerates the flow of serotonin in your brain when you hear it.

I don’t speak Portuguese so whatever they’re rapping about is completely lost on me, but they sound good and look like they’re having fun doing it.

This week, they released a new track entitled “Meu Bem” and it’s another stunner.
