Baio has always expressed a deep love for dance music. In fact, he was working as a DJ before Vampire Weekend even existed. Over the years, he’s released three EPs of stellar blessed out beats for some of the best dance labels today. But the first single from “The Names” which will be released by Glassnote on September 18th, is perhaps his best yet.
Titled “Brainwash Yyrr Face”, it’s a lovely slice of forward thinking production techniques mixed with nods to a particular strain of elegant, 80s style dance pop – particularly in the vocals, which are provided by Baio himself!
“Brainwash Yyrr Face” has set my expectations exhilaratingly high for what’s to follow. I might be getting a little ahead of myself, but I can already see this album on my year end Top Ten list.
