Surfer Blood are one of few bands from my native state of Florida that I can be proud of. It’s fertile ground for oranges, but not as much for music.
Back in 2011 when we first heard from the band out of West Palm Beach, they definitely had a surfer-y vibe – sunny harmonies and fuzzy guitars — but they are back with BITE on the first single on their forthcoming album, “Weird Shapes”. Stream below and DOWNLOAD it here.

When I asked Jason Bentley what makes it great, he had a simple response: “it’s edgy but catchy as hell”. Frontman JP Pitts lets loose with some screams that are pure rock ‘n’ roll gold. Perhaps it was their experience recording here in LA that inspired a more dynamic sound.
Either way, they’re coming back to play a bunch of shows for us on the West Coast, starting March 1. Their show at The Echo is sold out, but you can find them in Riverside and San Diego. See below!
