I’m particularly fond of the band Hard Proof.
Afrobeat music and Texas might seem like a mismatch, but this 9-piece band brings the funk and will have you dancing. Hard Proof tightly fuses sounds from sub-Saharan Africa with adventurous jazz and deep funk to stimulate your brain and move your feet.
Check out the track “Dragon”, which I’ve spun a few times on KCRW.
For those of you who are lucky enough to be in Austin for SXSW, you can catch Hard Proof on Tuesday March 17th at the Empire Control Room at 7 PM.
