Music For Your Weekend feat. Khruangbin & Leon Bridges, Lawrence Rothman, and De Lux

Written by

The year is off to a very fine start - plenty of music to look forward to in 2020! Despite rumors going around that very few music gets released in January, here are 3 very excellent released that will heat up your chilly weekend.

Khruangbin & Leon Bridges – “C-Side”

This collaboration of “don’t mess with Texas” proportions features the Houston natives Khruangbin alongside Fort Worth soul singer, Leon Bridges. Leading with a dreamy and funky groove, it’s easy to get lost in the vastness of music... much like the horizon line on a long Texas road trip. As you can tell by fellow KCRW DJ Aaron Byrd covering another one of their tracks, we are very excited about this upcoming EP release.

Lawrence Rothman (feat. Pale Waves) – “SkindeepSkyhighHeartwide”

Lawrence Rothman hasn’t had a full-length offering since the debut Book of Law in 2017. But, Lawrence has been heavily involved in producing the soundtrack to the new 90s inspired film The Turning. It features an impressive lineup of contributors like Mitski, Courtney Love, Empress Of, The Aubreys (feat. Finn Wolfhard), Vagabon, Cherry Glazerr , Kim Gordon and Warpaint.

“SkindeepSkyhighHeartwide” is the third single from the forthcoming soundtrack (out Jan 24th to coincide with the movie release) and it features vocals from Pale Waves as well as Rothman. It's perfectly cinematic. Take a listen.

De Lux – “Cool Up”

Our favorite “disco-not-disco” duo is back with 2 new tracks in 2020! And just in time for their performance at Innovative Leisure’s 10 Year Anniversary Weekender (today & tomorrow) at Pappy & Harriet’s in the High Desert (presented by KCRW).

The new music has all the upbeat charm and driving beats that made us fall in love with their 2018 full-length release, More Disco Songs About Love. This is definitely one to put on repeat this weekend.
