My Favorite Murder is simply one of the best podcasts out there and when an opportunity to have hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark on the Guest DJ Project arose, I jumped at the chance. If you haven’t heard the podcast, just know they are hilarious and turn something super scary and anxiety-inducing into comedy gold.
We rarely do themed Guest DJ Project sets but, of course, we had to ask them about their favorite murder songs and they obliged.
They cover a lot of ground from the obvious (Talking Head’s “Psycho Killer”) to the not-so-obvious (Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly”).
We also asked them to pick a personal track they love — Karen went with some room-rattling bass and Georgia selected some soaring Americana.
We talk about their teenage music tastes, why killers seem to flock to the Pacific Northwest, how Karen makes mix tapes (hint: they include lots of One Direction) AND, of course, a quick Q&A about Elvis the cat (who’s featured in every episode of their show).
There were many uber fans (aka Murderinos) in the audience and we all had a blast. Give it a listen here.
Fun fact: this is easily the most expletive-filled episode we’ve every taped, so beware!
Note: Pre-sale tickets for their 2018 tour went on sale this morning – the password is MURDERINO (in all caps)
