Born To“, I really wasn’t sure what to think. It was quite a bit poppier than I’m used to hearing from her.
But as Jason Bentley continued to play it on Morning Becomes Eclectic, it grew on me to the point where I now totally love it and think it might be among her best. A great lesson in not making a snap judgment!

KCRW helped launch Jesca’s career in 2003 and she’s been on quite a ride since. Just last year she joined Peter Gabriel on tour as his backup singer, last month she toured the U.S. with the Punch Brothers and now she’s headed to LA for a show at the Hotel Café tonight (Sunday) and at Bardot on Monday.
Her latest full length, “The House That Jack Built”, was a collaboration with three producers and will be out June 26. According to Jesca, “a drop of blood in the can from each of us rendered a more radical sound” so I guess you can expect new sounds for the rest of the album as well.
I’m yet to hear it but I’m sure we’ll get our hands on it soon.
For now, you can revisit her most recent MBE session.
