The literal translation of the band’s name is “You’re not going to like it.” But after a decade of touring worldwide and a couple gold records in South America, it would seem that people do like it.

No Te Va Gustar’s roots lie in the sound established by Argentinean funk bands of the mid 90’s. They take the reggae/funk/ska combo pioneered by bands like Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Bersuit, and spike it with heavy guitar riffs and spirited murga.

In the span of six albums, the Uruguayan 9-piece has learned how to carefully craft their musical influences into rocking ballads, keeping a consistent sound that draws sold-out crowds all over South America.

If you’ve ever found yourself asking, “Hey what happened to all the good ska-funk like Los Autenticos Decadentes and Los Cafres,” then this is definitely a band you should check out.
