Phantogram: Artist You Should Know

Written by

Phantogram’s last record was a slow burner for me. It wasn’t until I saw the dynamic duo of Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel play live at SXSW (during the KCRW-sponsored Filter Magazine day showcase) that I realized they were something really special. (And the RAC remix of  “When I’m Small” helped a lot too)

Their music is definitely poppy — with super catchy, repetitive choruses that implant themselves firmly in your brain for days – but there’s something really sensual and trip-hoppy about it as well.

It’s been sounding great on the radio during Morning Becomes Eclectic so I had to share.

They’re releasing a mini-LP, “Nightlife” which includes the brand new track “Don’t Move”, and hitting the road for a U.S. tour with two another recent faves of mine, Reptar and ExitMusic. They’ll be in LA at the Music Box on November 4.
