Los Angeles-based labels Body High and Fade To Mind are two of the most exciting electronic labels in the world right now and both came out with excellent free releases recently.
First up, is the hotly anticipated debut by Kelela, entitled “Cut 4 Me”. The mixtape features trunk rattling production from Jam City, Bok Bok, Girl Unit, Kingdom, and Nguzunguzu.
“Bank Head” is a modern classic in my opinion and has been a steady presence on my playlists all summer long since it first came out on Kingdom’s “Vertical XL” EP and appears on the mixtape in extended form. This is future R&B at its finest.
Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy, just released a free 4-track EP in advance of their fall tour (coming to LA at the Standard Hollywood on October 17 with Anthony “Shake” Shakir in tow, fyi).
In addition to a track apiece from the Body High boys, we get contributions from Chicago house legend DJ Pierre and Detroit techno godfather Juan Atkins. Really amazing stuff…and did I mention free?!?!
